Overview

The predecessor of the School of Energy and Power Engineering is the Department of Power Mechanical Engineering, which was founded in 1963, one of the three earliest departments in the school. Through more than 50 years of development, the discipline system with distinctive strength and outstanding characteristics has been established. Now the school has three undergraduate majors/directions, including energy and power engineering, building environment and equipment engineering, and new energy science and engineering, as well as 7 second-level discipline master degree authorization, and 1 first-level discipline doctor degree authorization for Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics. There is also a post-doctoral workstation of Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics.

Such as Department of Fluid Machinery,Department of Hydromechanics and Polyphase Flow,Department of Mechanics and Aerospace power,Department of Advanced power,Department of Engineering Thermophysics,Department of Thermal Energy Engineering,Department of Artificial Environment Equipment,Department of New Energy Technology,Department of Energy Storage Science and Engineering 173 faculty members, including 18 doctoral supervisors,29 professors,56 associate professors. There are about 1,780 undergraduates and 320 postgraduates and international students.

The school now has the world’s most advanced stereo particle image velocimeter (PIV), 3D phase Doppler particle dynamic analyzer (PDPA), JDDF1400 open-close dual-purpose low-speed wind tunnel, high-speed digital video camera, HVAC test device, as well as a series of advanced instruments and equipment, which can provide excellent experimental conditions for undergraduates and graduate students.

The school actively develops research cooperation and exchanges, and has established long-term cooperative relationships with nearly 100 domestic enterprises and research institutes. The school also has built a lot of cooperation and exchange with foreign countries, like the United States, Britain, Canada, Germany, Japan et al.
